Scutellaria alpina L.

  • Description: Violet blue flowers with white to cream colored lips, 15 cm tall, slow spreading and mat forming. Blooms in summer. The leaves are oval and invariably toothed, arranged in opposite pairs. Flowers are borne on short, erect stems, in dense quadrangular clusters about 2 cm long.

    Found in the wild in central and southern Europe and Russia.

    Prefers mostly sunny location and slightly alkaline soil with excellent drainage. Propagate from seed in the spring.
