EEB Greenhouses as a Teaching Resource

The EEB Greenhouse facilities are heavily used at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Connecticut. Thousands of students each semester visit the greenhouses through Introductory Biology programs, particularly Foundations of Biology, Principles of Biology and Introduction to Botany.

A number of EEB courses feature both visits to the greenhouses as well a regular succession of plants delivered to teaching laboratories over the course of a semester. A few courses such as Systematic Botany and Developmental Plant Morphology can utilize in excess of 500 specimens per semester.

Many courses beyond Biology also utilize the resources of the EEB Greenhouse including the Plant Science department, Fine Arts department and Anthropology.
