With one of the most diverse plant collections in the northeastern United States, the Biodiversity Education & Research Greenhouses are an exciting destination in eastern Connecticut.

We are located on the north side of campus in an area known at the Tech Quad. The greenhouses are not visible from any of the major roads on campus so check out the interactive map and come discover us!!

Visiting: General Public

We are located on the main campus of the University of Connecticut at Storrs, CT. Our facility is located behind the Biology/Physics Building.

The facility is open to the public Monday thru Friday from 8 AM until 4 PM and Saturday from 10 AM until 2 PM.

Weekday parking is limited on the Storrs campus and we advise visitors to park in the North Parking Garage. Upon exiting the garage, walk along Auditorium Road past the Jorgensen Auditorium and past the Biology/Physics Building. Enter via the door on the east side of the greenhouses, or you may enter through the garden during warm weather.
Street parking on North Eagleville Rd is available on weekends only.

Our staff is generally on-hand to answer any questions you may have or help you find a plant you wish to see.

Visiting: Tours & Groups

We encourage schools, home schools, scout & civic groups to make use of the fabulous plant resource we have here at UConn.

Greenhouse staff will give a brief 10 minute introduction to the facility to orient you and will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate plants as your group explores the greenhouse at their own pace.

We also have the capacity to create custom 'scavenger hunt' style activities with some advance notice. Teachers can browse our collections online and create a customized list of plants to match their curriculum goals. Staff can put out specially marked signs and create custom scavenger hunt maps for your group. See the following page for an example of an Ant/Plant Symbiosis Scavenger Hunt we ran last summer.

Contact Meghan Moriarty - {email preferred} or 860-486-8941 for further details and scheduling of tours and setting up scavenger hunt activities.

The Torrey Life Sciences Greenhouses are
