Country of Origin: Northwestern Ecuador and southwestern Colombia
Habitat: wet forest at elevations of 400-1300 m
Description: Epiphyte, the stem green, subterete, scandent, with internodes to 16 cm long and 1.5 cm thick in darkest localities, shorter in high light. Cataphylls 6-11 cm long, marcescent. Petiole terete, 25-45 cm long, green to pink. Lamina cordate-ovate, 10-14 cm broad, 22-35 cm long, coriaceous, dull medium green above, shiny pale green below, the primary lateral veins prominent both sides, pale yellowgreen. Inflorescence erect, the peduncle terete, reddish, shorter than or exceeding the petiole; spathe cordate, shiny red-orange, 3-9 cm broad, 5-12 cm long; the spadix tapered, transversely banded yellow-white-yellow in about equal lengths. Berries subglobose, translucent dirty yellow, 2-seeded. Chromosome number 2n = 30.
